The grape market's demand for increased efficiency, worker safety, and environmental friendliness lead Dauenhauer to look at sprayer markets as an ideal new product. After five years of development and three years of commercial testing, Dauenhauer launched its new Tilt Tunnel Sprayer for the grape growing industry.
This new, efficient and environmental friendly way to apply agricultural chemicals, such as fertilizers and pesticides, utilizes our patented Controlled Atmosphere Transfer System. In current use in grape vine applications, the Tilt Tunnel Sprayer has been shown to reduce chemical use by 50-90%. Consisting of a moving tunnel that passes over the grapes, this system creates a controlled atmosphere around the vines - chemicals are deposited directly and evenly onto the leaves with minimum drift, even in windy weather when other sprayers cannot be used. This allows for the material to be applied with twice the efficiency of a conventional sprayer with none of the environmental losses that plague conventional material application. Overspray and fine mist not deposited on the leaves recycle automatically inside the tunnel for re-use - especially important in early-season applications before full foliage has developed.
This twin tunnel system mounts directly on the standard tractor three point hitch and can spray one or two rows simultaneously. The patent pending "Tilt Tunnel" technology increases maneuverability to the level of an unburdened tractor, so narrow headlands are not a constraint, and an easy-to-operate pressure control regulates spraying automatically, applying chemicals at a constant rate, via standard nozzles, based upon tractor speed. An optional articulated cross-arm, with automatic height control, is used on terraced or hillside vines.
